Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains which personal data we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Portuguese Law no. 58/2019.

3. CCTV in the store
The store is under video surveillance, signposted at the entrance and inside as required by law. Cameras record image only, cover public and equipment areas only, and images are kept for 30 days. Access is restricted to the controller and expressly authorised staff. No facial recognition or automated decision-making is used.
4. Speed Queen mobile app
The Speed Queen app available on the App Store and Google Play, through which you create an account, top up and start machines, is provided and operated by Alliance Laundry Systems, owner of the Speed Queen brand — not by us. Processing of your account data is governed by the app's own privacy policy and terms, available in the app and at speedqueencommercial.com. As the store operator we only access what is needed to run the store: transactions on our machines, balances, promotion usage and your contact details when you ask for support. To exercise rights over app account data (e.g. deleting your account), contact the app operator; if you contact us we will forward the request and help where we can.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies in these categories:
- Strictly necessary — only the local record of your cookie choice (stored in your browser, not sent to anyone). No consent needed.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited), to know how many people visit, where they come from and which pages they read, in aggregate and with IP anonymisation. Retention: max. 13 months.
- Advertising — Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited) and Google Ads conversion signals, to measure our Facebook, Instagram and Google campaigns and show relevant ads. Retention: max. 13 months.
Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. If you click "Reject", none of these services is loaded and the site works exactly the same. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before.
The location map is provided by Google Maps and is only loaded when you click "Show map"; from that moment the Google privacy policy applies. Links to the App Store, Google Play, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp take you to third-party platforms with their own policies.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the following categories of recipients, bound by data-processing agreements under Article 28 GDPR where they act on our behalf:
- Website hosting and contact-form handling: Netlify, Inc. (USA), with content delivery through servers in the EU.
- E-mail: Google Ireland Limited (Gmail).
- Analytics and advertising tools (only with your consent): Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics, Google Ads) and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (Meta Pixel).
- Speed Queen app and equipment provider: Alliance Laundry Systems and its distributor in Portugal.
- Payment service providers: Nayax (washer/dryer payment terminal), Stripe (app payments) and Shift4 (vending machine), plus the payment institutions and acquirers processing card and MB Way payments. Each also acts as an independent controller for its own regulatory obligations.
- Messaging: WhatsApp Ireland Limited (Meta group), when you contact us on WhatsApp.
- Accounting and legal advisers, for legal compliance and defence of claims.
- Public authorities — police, courts, tax or supervisory authorities — where legally required.
Transfers outside the EEA
Some providers are established in or process data in the United States. Transfers rely on the recipient's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable, or otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914) with appropriate supplementary measures. You can ask us about the safeguards applicable to each provider via the contact in section 1.
7. Security
We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including HTTPS on the website, individual credentials for management and CCTV systems, data minimisation and automatic deletion of CCTV footage after the retention period. In the event of a personal data breach likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, you will be notified under Article 34 GDPR.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection (including, at any time, to direct marketing) and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. To exercise them, write to speedqueengambelas@gmail.com. We reply within one month, extendable by two months in complex cases. We may ask for additional information to confirm your identity.

9. Minors
Using the laundry has no minimum age. Creating an account in the Speed Queen app is subject to the minimum age set in the app's own terms (section 4). We do not knowingly collect personal data of children under 16 through this website. If you become aware that a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Automated decisions
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
11. Changes
This policy may be updated when our services, technologies or applicable law change. The version in force is always the one published on this page, with its last-updated date.
